What’s New for 2020

Special supplemental life offer

During Benefits Enrollment, you have a one-time opportunity to increase your MetLife supplemental life insurance coverage up to $450,000 without a medical review. Normally, when you elect to increase your supplemental life by more than $10,000, it’s subject to a review. This is a great opportunity for you to easily (and affordably) increase your coverage—giving you peace of mind in knowing your loved ones will be protected, no matter what happens down the road.

Medical plan additions

Starting in 2020, your medical coverage is getting even better! We’ve worked with our partners to provide several enhancements to many of our medical plans, ensuring you and your family receive the best care for the best price. View the 2020 medical plan comparison chart for more information about the plans.

Aetna & UnitedHealthcare (UHC)

  • Centers of Excellence (COE)
Through COE, Aetna and UHC partner with specialists and expert resources to provide the highest-quality care, offering better results and fewer complications. When you utilize COE for select conditions, treatment may be covered at 100%, including travel benefits. Covered procedures include:
    • Bariatric surgery, such as lap bands, bypass, sleeve gastrectomy
    • Cardiac, such as open-heart surgery, angioplasty, and stent procedures
    • Orthopedic, such as total knee replacement surgery, total hip replacement surgery, and spine surgery
    • Transplants, such as bone marrow and kidney transplant
  • Hospital-grade breast pumps
Because some mothers and their children benefit from a more robust breast pump typically used in clinical settings, our medical plans will now allow coverage for hospital-grade breast pumps.
  • Backup wheelchair benefits
For those who qualify for the wheelchair benefit, the plan will now allow up to $3,000 every three years for a secondary wheelchair or recreational chair to support hobbies that require special equipment.
  • Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy
To help you expedite the process for obtaining ABA therapy as a treatment for autism, rigorous pre-certification approval has been eliminated.
  • Transgender enhancements
Our medical plan coverage will now cover facial feminization procedures such as tracheal shaving and facial hair removal for our transgender employees.

Aetna

  • MinuteClinic
Visits to any in-network CVS MinuteClinic walk-in clinics will be offered at no or low cost as part of preventive and non-preventive services currently covered under your plan. The EPO and PPO plans will provide this benefit at zero cost, while the HDHP Premium and Standard plans will offer this benefit at zero cost after you’ve met your deductible.
  • Habilitative therapies
The medical plans will now cover habilitative physical, occupational, and speech therapy (PT/OT/ST) without any age, cost, or visit limits for autism and developmental delays.

Kaiser

  • CVS MinuteClinic partnership
If you or your covered family members are traveling outside of your active region, you can now receive non-urgent healthcare services for conditions such as colds, ear infections, allergies, and more through MinuteClinic locations inside of CVS and Target stores. You’ll pay the standard copay without having to file for reimbursement. All you need to do is present your Kaiser ID card at the time of service.

2020 Monthly premiums

Due to constantly increasing medical costs, your paycheck costs will increase for all medical plan coverage except for employee-only coverage for the HDHP Standard plan.

Health Savings Account (HSA)

If you’re enrolling in the HDHP Premium or Standard plan through either Aetna or UnitedHealthcare (UHC), you can elect to contribute to a Health Savings Account (HSA). When you enroll in the HDHP Premium plan, Salesforce will contribute $750 (for employee-only coverage) or $1,500 (for family coverage) at the beginning of the year to get you started. And the money in your account can be used to pay your out-of-pocket healthcare expenses, and rolls over from year to year, earning tax-free interest. Remember that you’ll need to re-enroll each year to keep contributing to an HSA (even if you have money in your account). For 2020, IRS limits for the employee-only maximum contribution will increase to $3,550, and the family maximum contribution will increase to $7,100.

Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)

Discover big savings when you enroll in a Flexible Spending Account (FSA). Through an FSA, you set aside pretax money to pay for eligible healthcare and/or dependent care expenses and never pay taxes on the dollars you set aside—helping you save cash. Remember that you’ll need to re-enroll each year to keep contributing to an FSA. Below are the FSA plan changes:

  • Healthcare Flexible Spending Account (HCFSA): The maximum contribution is increasing to $2,700. Keep in mind that if you enroll in the HDHP Premium or Standard plan and the HCFSA, your HCFSA will be limited and can only be used for eligible dental or vision expenses until you've met your medical deductible.
  • Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account (DCFSA): Now your hard-earned, pre-tax dollars can go even further toward dependent care costs. The Salesforce DCFSA maximum contribution limits are doubling to $5,000 for employees with on-target earnings (OTE) less than $250,000, as of October 1, 2019, due to IRS non-discrimination testing. For employees with OTE greater than or equal to $250,000 as of October 1, 2019, IRS non-discrimination requirements will still limit contributions to $2,500.
